"The Story Behind the Novel" in this version of the novel is intended for use in colleges and universities to inspire and motivate the aspiring writer. Though this is a work of fiction, it contains a lot of truth about prison life and life in general that sometimes leads the unsuspecting to prison for long periods of time. The addition of the two chapters from the sequel helps the reader to understand more about the life of one of the two protagonist, and may make one feel that it could happen to them. Mr. D., who is in federal prison, wrote and added "The Story Behind the Novel" to show the difficulties he went through to make the book available, and to inspire his readers to apply themselves to accomplish what they want in life. We have to make dreams happen sometimes.
