This is a story about growing up in the English Lake District. Through the eyes of Hannah Ryan we get a glimpse at her world and what matters to her. What child hasn't wanted a pet? But what happens when that pet arrives? What child doesn't have dreams, fears and frustrations? Who hasn't made mistakes? "Many a mickle " is the start of a Scottish saying that has passed from one generation to the next. Now it is Hannah's turn.
