At odds with the priests of the Second Temple and the foreign rulers who oppressed them, the Yahad saw themselves as the upholders of a tradition that was quickly eroding out from under them. These men called themselves the Sons of Light. Leaving for the desert, they took with them the last vestiges of their faith - their holy books. These learned men had a mission, to uphold the Covenant established by Moses with their ancestors. Watching and waiting, they plotted the destruction of God's enemies, the Sons of Darkness. This is the story the scholars tell, but the scrolls found scattered amongst the caves of Qumran tell a subtley different story. Amongst these are the fragments of a cycle of Enochian literature that tell the story of fallen angels known as the Watchers and their giant offspring, the Nephilim.
