A River Flows is a psychological crime thriller set in contemporary Europe. Ernst Reuter, a Ph. D student leading a quiet steady life, suddenly finds himself entangled in a mysterious abduction case that soon develops into a murder investigation. The victim is no other than a close friend, a political activist under police observation. Matters get dangerously complicated, when Ernst, not trusting the local police, decides to seek outside assistance to help him investigate the murder case. An old friend leads him to a European detective bureau that helps him investigate what gradually turns out to be more than a simple murder case. Slowly Ernst discovers a putrid world of prostitution and people smuggling, but he also finds new friendships and outstanding courage. In the dramatic course of events, he slowly discovers a hidden, unknown side of himself.
