At First Averse and Then Another

This collection combines the artwork of the late Charleston Renaissance artist Charlotte Simmons McQueeney with the verse renderings of her son, W. Thomas McQueeney. The artwork is shown in tonal shades to illustrate a wide influence of Carolina Lowcountry culture. Mediums include pen and ink, oil, pastel, acrylic and the artist's favorite media, watercolor. The literary offerings number 121 submissions, mostly filled with satirical musings mindful of the humorists e.e. cummings, Ogden Nash, or Shel Silverstein.
