Financial Independence for Employees

There is a world of difference between job and work although it is used interchangeably. A job is what you do to earn a salary while work have to do with purpose, meaning, love, passion - what you came to this world to do. The best place to be is to locate your work and to do it with excellence - with your whole heart, mind and soul. Your work is where your aptitude, love and passion meet. This is where you are in your natural element or habitat, like fish in water. This is not the reality for most employees. It is either they are in the wrong place, or are under too much financial pressure to enjoy their dream job. Most employees make career decisions based on pay and geography. A bigger pay packet is taken as a confirmation that it's the right job for you. A big pay packet is fantastic but it does not motivate for long. Within six months to a year you become used to it and have to face the fact that you are not satisfied on the job. Your life feels hollow on the inside and you soon start to see others that followed their dreams end up making much more money in the long run. You don't have to choose between fulfilment and money. You can have both. You only have 24 hours in a day. Most of that is spent sleeping, commuting and working. If you are not fulfilled most of your day (and your life), when you do plan to do that? More than ever before, it is becoming apparent that there is more to life than a job. You have to be crystal clear what is really important to you and live in alignment with your highest values. If your job is your life, what happens when you retire? Your life literally ends. All that is left is to rock in a rocking chair watching the days go by until death finally knocks on the door. Many retirees derived meaning from their jobs, and the moment their working days ended, their lives lost meaning. Many die shortly afterwards. You can never retire from your work. You keep doing it until it is physically impossible to do so. Many great men went to work the day before the bid the planet their final farewell. They loved and enjoyed what they came to do to the very end. Most employees feel that financial independence is either beyond their reach or they have to quit their jobs to attain it. Some have quit their jobs prematurely and have paid for it dearly. Those left behind come to the conclusion that doing what they love is not part of their destiny. Like being trapped in a bad marriage, they have to endure because of the kids for the rest of their lives. Taking a job should not mark the end of your dreams. You can attain financial independence as an employee. You can make your job a stepping stone to your dreams, whatever your dream might be. To achieve this, you need to know who you are and where you want to go. This creates the context for choosing jobs that move you towards your goals and dreams. If you are ready to quit complaining and move from the passenger seat to the driver's seat of your financial future, then come go with me.
