To go from homeless, living in an alley in an abandoned city, to the stars in two months is a lot to ask of a twelve-year-old girl. When the Pathfinder found Rose and offered her a chance at a new life, he told her that she would have forty-five days to succeed, or die. Rose's decision is not just for herself, Bob has been taking care of her and she can't leave him behind. But if she takes him he only lives if she does. As they learn to become Pathfinders they find that they have more to lose than they thought, and they find that Bob may be the key to their survival.
