This study shows that bacterial species found in highly toxic environment are capable of degrading high toxic wastes like xenobiotic compounds, PAH etc. I had isolated bacteria from tannery soil that is highly toxic in nature. Bacterial species growing in such an environment are capable of sustaining in adverse condition and highly adaptable to condition that are unsustainable to other species. Bacterial species isolated from such an environment can be used for various bioremediation purposes. Though till now we could not find any literacy showing Bacillus spp. showing engine oil degrading potential, but in our present study we found Bacillus spp. showing the maximum oil degradation potential. It has some advantages over the Pseudomonas spp., as it is less pathogenic in comparison to the Pseudomonas spp. and can be handled in normal lab conditions and can also be recommended to use in bioremediation purposes in the treatment of engine oil as our study shows it giving the best cell density when growing on a media containing used engine oil.
