Oculometry and the complexity of perception

The human mind seems to have a basic intuition about chance. Experiments have shown that children look longer if the proportion of the colors of the balls does not match what was removed before. Other studies with adults have shown that people look longer at objects that have a lower probability of appearing in a scene. However, this intuition on the random is not perfect. For example, people cannot easily decide whether a sequence of characters or numbers is truly random. In recognition experiments, they tend to think of a complex sequence as random. In generation experiments, people who are asked to create random sequences of characters usually try to write complex sequences, but they usually exaggerate the complexity of the sequences. more often than a true random sequence. The reason is that people have bad intuition and think that a long sequence of "tails" (for example) is less likely than a more complex sequence of the same length.
