The Make-Out Room

The Make-Out Room & Other Stories is a compilation of 123 newspaper columns by David Porter. In 2020, The Make-Out Room won first place for Best Humor Column from the National Newspaper Association. The column also has won first place for best original column from the Illinois Press Association and the Southern Illinois Editorial Association. The column draws on the everyday experiences and musings of the author. The title story is about the author's first boy-girl party where there was a darkened room dubbed "the make-out" room and revisiting the room some 40 years later.
