From 2015 to 2020 Robert Peate substitute-taught in Portland-area schools. On one hand, he does not expect anyone to be interested in reading about his experiences substitute teaching. On the other hand, he does feel there is value in talking about the issues raised by them and his observations on education in general. Those who have never worked in education might find this volume illuminating, and those who have might smile and say, "Yep, I've been there."
