Hiruko the Goblin

Kenji Sawada stars in this Japanese horror directed by Shin'ya Tsukamoto. Young archaeologist Reijiro Hieda (Sawada) has been discredited by his peers for his theories regarding the supernatural. He receives news from his brother-in-law Takashi Yabe (Naoto Takenaka) about the discovery of an ancient tomb built to seal an evil spirit within it and then learns that Yabe and his student, Reiko Tsukishima (Megumi Ueno), have disappeared.

Travelling to investigate, he teams up with Yabe's son Masao (Masaki Kudou) and they are soon faced with a series of disturbing occurrences and two violent murders. Is this the work of a human killer or has something evil escaped from the tomb?
