Publisher Marketing: In November 1861 Buck Ross, a seventeen year old orphan raised by his aunt and uncle races from Validation, Kansas back to the farm to warn the family the man they call Silk has returned; nearly twenty years later. It had been whispered he was the killer of Buck's parents. He gets back but not in time. His aunt Jenny and uncle J. T. have been slaughtered. Their son, Duncan is missing. Heartbroken, Buck begins to dig graves before the sun goes down, shouting for Duncan as he worked just in case he was around. When the graves were finished Duncan came out of his hiding place. They decided to cover the bodies until morning when one of them would go to town for help. The next morning Duncan is caught trying to steal Piddlin, Buck's horse. There is a fist fight where Buck knocks his cousin out cold. Knowing there was nothing for him, he leaves and begins to wander. He is rescued by a local Cheyenne, assisted on a vision quest and discovers he is meant to be a healer, visionary and a prophet. He has already paid a high price for his abilities but there will be more challenges ahead, not the least of which is whether he should strap on the Colt dragoon currently resting in his saddle bag. Benjamin Walter MacLaren, Pete 'the knife' Tait, Poppy Diamond, Rebbecca and most important, Moon Feather, his guide in spirit will help him come to terms with things. It will be up to him to take revenge on Silk and Duncan.
